Hemming Instructions
Our uniform pants (bibbers) and coats have snap strips for hemming on the inside of the pant legs and sleeves. While the snap strips are long enough to accommodate most hemming needs, some hems may need a stitch on the inside of the side seams instead.
Please fit the bibbers first.
Bibbers:
With your student wearing the bibbers, start by adjusting the shoulder strap until the body length is comfortable, but not too long. Next, tuck the pant legs under. Slide them up until the line pressed into the front of the pant legs hangs straight without folds and just touch the tops of the shoes. Snap the hems in place at that level.
If the snaps do not go as high as needed for the proper length, secure the hems on the inside of each pant leg side seam with a single secure stitch. Stitching should be minimal and easy to remove at the end of the season.
Coats:
With your student wearing the coat and resting arms at sides, fold the sleeve ends under. Slide them up until the sleeves end at the wrist bone or slightly longer. Snap sleeves in place at that length.
If the snaps do not go as high as needed for the proper length, secure the hem on the inside of each sleeve side seam with a single secure stitch. Stitching should be minimal and easy to remove at the end of the season.
Storage
Students will store their uniforms at home. Please find them a safe hanging space. After each performance, uniform garment bags should be unzipped and opened up to allow uniforms to air out. Uniforms will need to be at the school in time to be placed on racks that will be transported to events on band trailers.

Cleaning Uniforms
Marching Mustangs are required to maintain a neat and clean uniform. In the event their uniform becomes soiled, prior to the conclusion of the season, the Student is responsible to have the uniform professionally dry cleaned.
Bibbers and Coats:
Uniforms will be checked in and dry cleaned after our final performance in St George.
Gloves:
Gloves can be machine washed, on gentle, and allowed to air dry. Please return them on the first school day following St George.
Garment Bags:
Garment bags collect dirt. To clean, empty all dirt and debris from pockets. Machine wash in cold water on “rinse and spin only” cycle without laundry detergent, or hand rinse in a tub in a few inches of cold water. Drip dry. Please return with the uniform.

Wearing Uniforms
- Uniforms should be worn over lightweight, comfortable pants and a Tshirt with sleeves.
- Families provide black socks to wear with the Dinkles and black exercise wrist bands for drummers.
- Hats, plumes and gauntlets will be stored at the school. They will be handed out before each performance and collect afterword.
Hair:
- Short hair should be neatly trimmed.
- Long hair should be worn in a bun ON TOP of the head with bobby pins securing any loose hair. Marching Band hats sit high on the back of the head and slant slightly forward. Buns need to be high enough to accommodate hat placement.
